Jallianwala Bagh – It is a martyr’s memorial situated on the outskirts of the Golden Temple. Here, about 1500 to 2000 persons, who were attending a peaceful meeting during the freedom movement, fell under the bullets of the British General Dyer on 13th April, 1919. Queen Elizabeth II and her husband laid a wreath at the memorial on 14th October, 1997.

Wagah Border – This place is the perfect embodiment of the confluence of Indian and Pakistani military. The friendly exchanges are a sight to behold. The 30-minute military ceremony in the evening that happens every day (including weekends) at this international borderline is marked by a very famous beating the Retreat ceremony. Soldiers bring down the flags of their respective countries and eventually take their leave at dusk. The huge pomp and enormity associated with the ceremony attracts numerous tourists every day to be a part of this grand ceremony.
Wagah Border is located on the GT Road between the cities of Amritsar and Lahore. There is no entry fee, though the border remains open to visitors only during 4pm to 5pm. You do need to scamper for a good seat as the area becomes overcrowded with tourists.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum – A history buff or not, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum is a wonderful place to visit on your trip to Amritsar. The museum was earlier the summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh that has been now turned into a marvelous museum. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was called the Lion of Punjab because of his audacity. He is a prominent figure in the history of India.
The museum premise is surrounded by a grand garden that is named Ram Bagh, after the great Guru Ram Dass. This summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh is now being officially preserved under the Punjab Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1964. It was converted into a Museum during the 400th year celebrations of Amritsar City.
A huge number of visitors and tourists today visit this museum to see the timeless antiquities and art objects of the 18th and 19th century. The museum exhibits many objects related to the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh like his arms and arm our, paintings and centuries old coins and manuscripts. The rich collection of weapons and ammunition are another thing in the museum that portrays the dauntless attitude of the warriors of Punjab. One of the most significant things in the museum is the parwana of Maharaja Ranjit Singh gifted to the Raja of Kapurthala holding the seal of Ranjit Singh.

Khalsa College – A breathtaking creation of architecture, the Khalsa College catches many eyes for its pure opulence and functionality. This majestic institute of higher learning was established by the leaders of the Singh Sabha Movement in 1892.

Sarai Amanat Khan – Near the Wagha Border lies a dilapidated Mughal era caravan sarai. It is one of a chain of caravan sarais on the Grand Trunk Road that was built by the Mughals to make the otherwise difficult Lahore-Agra journey an easier one.

Hall Bazaar – The Walled City or the Old City is popularly known as Hall Bazaar. Just as the name suggests it is a bagful of shops on the ground floor and homes above.

Mata Lal Devi The temple is to the northwest of the railway station and has shrines featuring Hindu Deities.
